GridWise is closely related to many other current efforts for advancing our nation's energy system and is working in cooperation with these efforts. The transformational nature of the GridWise vision, however, sets it apart.
When the GridWise vision is achieved, our current electrical energy system will be fundamentally transformed. To clearly reveal hidden value within the energy system and to integrate that value into the operational drivers at every level of the system will utterly change the current energy system. By enabling intelligence, the GridWise vision will make possible collaborations and transactions from central generation down to customer appliances and equipment , ultimately achieving wide-scale transformation.
Researchers involved in GridWise activities at PNNL are facilitating this transformation by enabling leadership and guidance, revealing options and foreseeable directions, and examining the barriers and benefits to different paths toward the GridWise vision.
