SCENARIOS FOR TRANSFORMATION

A vast variety of market structures and environments surround our electric energy system today and further alternatives may be instated in the future. The GridWise vision can be applied to any number of market structures and network configurations. PNNL is examining different scenarios to illuminate pathways for progress which may apply to any particular circumstance. Scenarios under consideration currently at PNNL include:

• GridWise concepts and deregulated markets
• GridWise applied to regulated and re-regulated markets
• GridWise in relation to micro-grids
• GridWise and networked and radial distribution topologies.
